Disclaimer
BooksTied produces drafts. It does not perform an audit, and it does not sign anything. The licensed professional who issues the report is responsible for it, in full, exactly as if the draft had been typed by hand.
1. The output is a draft, not an opinion
Every report, exception list, note, filled template and usage log generated by BooksTied is a starting point for your own work. BooksTied does not plan or perform an audit, review, compilation, agreed-upon procedures or any other attest or assurance engagement under AICPA, PCAOB, IAASB, CICPA or any other standards. It expresses no opinion or conclusion on any financial statement. Headings such as “Audit findings” or “Audit opinion” in a draft are template placeholders for text you will write and take responsibility for.
2. Professional responsibility stays with you
Using BooksTied does not reduce, transfer or share the responsibilities of the engagement partner, the reviewer or the firm under applicable professional standards, laws and your engagement letter. You must apply your own procedures and judgment to decide what to test, what the exceptions mean, what to write, and whether to issue. Treat the draft as you would treat work prepared by a junior staff member: review every line before relying on it. You remain responsible for engagement quality management, independence, documentation and the retention of workpapers.
3. What the checks do and do not cover
BooksTied performs deterministic checks on the figures present in the files you provide: totals against their components, agreement between statements, your report against the client's statements, patterns in the ledger such as large cash settlements or entries without an attached voucher, and workpaper numbering. It does not read paper, does not confirm balances with third parties, does not assess fraud risk, does not evaluate internal controls, estimates, going concern or disclosures, and cannot detect errors in data that was never provided or that is internally consistent but wrong. An empty exceptions list means no exception was detected by these checks; it does not mean the financial statements are correct.
4. Regulatory citations are reference material
Regulations, standards and articles shown in the application are compiled from publicly available official sources as of the date stated in the application. Laws change, and compilation can contain errors or omissions. Citations are provided to help you locate the primary source; they are not legal, tax or accounting advice and must be verified against the current official text before being quoted in a report. Where a regulation has been repealed, the application marks it as such and does not cite it, but you remain responsible for the applicability of every citation you keep.
5. Sample engagements
Sample engagements included with BooksTied are either entirely fictional or constructed from publicly filed annual reports with deliberately introduced errors for training purposes. They are not representations about any real company, and any resemblance of fictional names to real entities is coincidental.
